The KTSW Sports Department is pleased to announce that the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association has awarded two of our broadcasters the 2nd place award for "Best Sportscast" in the 2009-2010 academic year! Play-by-play commentator and former KTSW Sports Director James McNeal and color commentator Will Butler were given the award for announcing the opening minutes of the 2nd half of the San Marcos High School football game against a state-ranked Kerrville Tivy team. The Rattlers came out and upset the Antlers as they were buoyed by an action-packed, frenetic start to the 2nd half. It was a very intense game for those in attendance at Bobcat Stadium, and we felt that the broadcast reflected that excitement.
The KTSW Sports Department will look to aim even higher at the Collegiate Broadcasters, Incorporated awards this summer. We will send in two 30-minute clips of our best broadcasts and compete against fellow student broadcasters from around the nation. A little bird told me that one of our clips will be Texas State's electrifying comeback win over Texas A&M in baseball...
