Bobcats take Game 2 against UTA

The Bobcats dropped game 1 to the Mavericks of UTA in the conference opener 3-1. They came into game 2 with a record of 3-11 while the Mavericks improved to 10-6 and 1-0 in conference play. In game 2 the Bobcats came out and defeated the Mavericks 3-0 to take season series to 1-1

In the second game Coach Woodward changed up her lineup keeping the sophomore Chandler Hall in the game as an outfielder. Woodards decided to throw the Freshman Anne Marie-Taylor to the wolves as she got the start.

In the 1st inning, Taylor started by getting one quick out and then walking Cara Hulme, the Maverick power hitter. However, Taylor was able to get out of the jam by striking out Heather Fortenberry.

The Bobcats left one on in the first keeping the trend alive from game one. Taylor gave up in the 2nd as well, but was able to get out of the jam recording her 1st strikeout.

Texas State continued their trend of leaving runners on in the 2nd inning as Jenna Emery reached on a hit by the pitch. With her staying on base that was the 6th runner left on in 2 games. Leah Boatright then struck out swinging. Boatright really struggled in the first game, going 0 for 3.

The Bobcats caught fire in the 3rd when Kristina Tello reached on a single and then advanced on a Lindsay Matt single. Finally a little blooper hit Haley Lemons allowed the Bobcats to get on the board 1st.

Ann Marie got into a little jam in the 5th as she put 2 Mavericks on base, but was able to get out of the jam when Kristina Tello made a great play on long fly ball to end the inning.

In the Bobcat 5th a rally was started when Megan Parten drew a walk, and Brooke Baker came into the game to run for the catcher then Kristina Tello moved the runner-up on a great bunt. Then Lindsay Matt hit a soft liner that caught the chalk, moving Baker to third, and giving herself a double. With 2 runners on Chandler came on crushed a double increasing the score to 3-0

Ann Marie Taylor held the Mavericks scoreless in the final 2 innings to record her first ever complete game shutout. The Mavericks and Bobcats will have the rubber match tomorrow at 2 PM at Bobcat Field. You can listen live on KTSW 89.9 FM and ktsw.net.
