It's tough to win when you turn the ball over 20-plus times in a game, and that is something that the Bobcat women's basketball team has done all too often this season. While in Natchitoches, Louisiana, the team struggled with a tricky full court pressure defense from Northwestern State and turned the ball over again and again, leading to easy baskets for the Lady Demons.
For the first ten minutes, it was a very tightly contested ball game. Junior Kelsey Krupa outscored the Lady Demons 8-2 by herself in the early going, but Northwestern State turned up the defensive pressure and was able to open up a 37-25 halftime lead.
The second half was more of the same, as tough full court pressure defense caused multiple unforced Bobcat errors. When the final buzzer sounded the score was 82-66.
There were a few bright spots in what was otherwise an ugly loss. Over the final three-and-a-half minutes, the Bobcat put together a 17-5 run to finish the game playing hard. And also, for the fifth time in her last seven games, freshman post Ashley Ezeh scored in double figures off the bench.
Texas State returns to action this Saturday in the friendly confines of Strahan Coliseum against McNeese State. Tip off is at 4:00 p.m., with live action on 89.9 FM KTSW.
