Texas State pounded out 14 runs to beat Purdue 14-10 and complete the weekend sweep.
The Bobcats got started early, scoring 6 runs in the first two innings. Bobcats first baseman, Paul Goldschmidt, had 2 homeruns for the 2nd consecutive game. Goldschmidt blasted a 3 run shot in the first to give the Bobcats an early 3-0 lead. He then parked a 2 run bomb over the right center field wall in the 4th. A sac fly in the 6th gave Goldschmidt 6 rbi's for the game.
Bobcat left fielder, Tyler Sibley, continued his assault on opposing pitching. Sibley went 3-5 with a double, he also scored 3 runs. Bobcat center fielder, Bret Atwood, added 3 steals and 3 runs. Bobcat starting pitcher, Brian Borski, earned the win to improve his record of 3-0 on the season. Borski went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Purdue starting pitcher, Matt Bischoff, earned the loss.
Texas State moves to 9-3 while Purdue drops to 2-7. Up next for the Bobcats is the #13 ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Bobcats host TCU Tuesday night at Bobcat Field. Fisrt pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m and you can listen to all the action on 89.9 KTSW.
