Clutch Free Throws Ace The Bobcats A Victory On The Road
The Bobcats traveled to Beaumont, Texas to take on the 12 and 11 Lamar Cardinals on Saturday. The first half started about as bad as it could have for the Bobcats. If you are an offensive guru this was not the game for you. Both teams combined for 51 points in the first half putting the Bobcats trailing 25 to 26 going into halftime.
The second half started the same way as the first half started with the Bobcats and Cardinals still shooting bad from the field. The only difference was that Brent Benson and Cameron Johnson showed up in the second half. Brent coming off a one game suspension played hard scoreing 16 of his 24 points in the second half, and was a sizzling 5 of 10 from three point range. Cameron Johnson was held scoreless in the first half, but came on strong scoring all 13 of his points in the second.
Despite the emerging inside, outside threat from the Cats, the team still found themselves in a dogfight with the Cardinals. With the game winding down the Bobcats found themselves having to make clutch free throws to win the game. Free throws have been known to be the achilles heal of this team. Tonight was different for the Cats as Benson and Bush stepped up and went 4 for 4 in the final minutes to claim victory.
The Bobcats now will have a week off, and then on Saturday the 21st will host the division leading Nicholls State Colonels. The game tips off at 4pm and you can catch the action live on 89.9 KTSW the other side of radio.
