Quick Recap: Lady Cardinals Send Bobcats Plummeting to a 1-10 Conference Record
The Texas State Women's Basketball team played well against the Southland Conference Western Division leading Lamar Cardinals Saturday in Beaumont, but ultimately fell 85-71. The Bobcats consistently stayed within striking distance from the Cardinals for the majority of the games, but never able to close the gap to less than 10.
The game was a back and forth contest, with both teams executing their fast past offense very well. The Bobcats were lead offensivily by Aimee Hilburn and senior Victoria Davis, who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. In all four Bobcats scored in double digits, in a game where the Cardinals were lead offensively Darika Hill who scored 23 points.
With about six minutes left in the second half, the Cardinals opened their biggest lead of the game, 24. The Bobcats showed tremendous improvement from the first meeting between the two teams, a game in which Cardinal freshman forward Kahlis Loyd scored a career high 28 points in that game. However, Texas State falls to 5-17 and 1-10 in SLC play with the loss. The 'Cats will be back in action Thursday night in Strahan Colliseum when they face Nichols at 7 p.m. You can listen to all the action live on 89.9 FM KTSW, ktsw.net and txstatebobcats.com.
