Men's Basketball Drops Eighth Straight Against Division 1 Competition

Texas State took on the Depaul Blue Demons on Saturday in Chicago. The Bobcats came into the game 3-7, and the Demons came into the game 6-4. The Bobcats came out and took an early 17-14 lead over the Demons. Texas State saw their lead explode to 11 points, but that lead evaporated just as quickly as it originally happened. The 'Cats then went into halftime trailing the Demons 34-32. At the beginning of the second half the Demons came out with intensity and never looked back. The Bobcats were led by senior John Rybak who was 5 for 10 from the three point line, and freshman Dylan Hale scored a career high 22 points. Junior Cameron Johnson led the cats on defense with two steals and two blocks, and he also led the Cats in rebounding with nine. The Bobcat bench scored 13 points and was led by senior Emmanuel Bidias a Moute who recorded 8 rebounds, one steal, and scored five points.

The Blue Demons were led by senior Will Walker who recorded 23 points with four steals and six rebounds. Sophomore Devin Hill was four of five from the beyond the three point line. Hill also recorded 19 points and nine rebounds. DePaul's major bench players Nate Rogers and Mario Staula recorded 11 points. The Demons travel to Florida to take on the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles next, and improve to 7-4 after the 86-69 victory. The Bobcats fall to 3-8 and return home to take on Texas Lutheran on the 29th. That game is the beginning of a three game home stand in which the Cats will also play SMU and Oklahoma Panhandle State. The Bobcats open up Southland play on January 9 in Arlington against the Mavericks of UTA.
