Bobcats Brand the Steers With a "100"

The Texas State Woman's Basketball team team crushed Texas College in a 100-42 rout to open up the season Friday night. As you would imagine in the first game of the season, play was a bit rusty through first few possessions of the game. However, it quickly transformed into a fast-paced game where the Bobcats tied the school's single game 3-pt mark of 14.

The teams were tied at 4-4 through the first four minutes when Texas State went on a 28-6 fun and then a 14-4 run to close the half out with a 25 point lead. After halftime, Texas State went right back to work on the Lady Steers. The score was already 71-28 after the first ten minutes of the second half. With an insurmountable lead, Head Coach Suzanne Fox started to mix-and-match players. Bringing in each of the 9 underclassmen. In fact, every player on the 16-man roster played.

The lead hit 60 before Texas College scored in the waning seconds to make it a 100-42 final. The Bobcats were led by sophomore Kelsey Krupa who had 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Victoria Davis, last year's leading scorer, only registered 5 points on 2-of-3 shooting but her impact was felt with 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 5 assists. The Bobcats will look to continue their early success at home this Tuesday versus Louisiana-Monroe.
