"Can't Beat Texas State!"

The Men’s Basketball team came onto their home court tonight against UTSA Roadrunners facing a bit of a predicament. If they lost the game, chances of making the playoffs were still present but doubtful. If they won the game, chances of making the playoffs were much better, even if they were to lose to their formidable, final opponent, Sam Houston State.

They knew of these chances and acted accordingly, knocking out UTSA tonight 80-66, led by senior Brandon Bush, 28 points, 19 rebounds, and Brent Benson, who scored 19 points, 15 of which were added by five three pointers.

Out of the gate, the Bobcats seemed a little sluggish and unfocused and committed three team fouls within three minutes of the first half, and UTSA held the lead by as much as much as ten points at 24-14. After the Bobcats regrouped, and regroup they did, the team went on a 22-5 run on UTSA. The Cats took the lead into the second half and never looked back, leading the Roadrunners by as much as 17 points during the game.

The fans knew just how important the game was and worried even down to the final minutes that the Roadrunners may muster a comeback, but their minds were quickly eased. The final blow was struck by Senior, three year letterman, Dylan Mosley, who made a proper exit in what was his last game at Strahan Coliseum with an emphatic break-away emphatic dunk with under three minutes remaining, followed by a victorious roar from the crowd.

After the game, it was all smiles as Coach Doug Davalos and players gathered around media row to do interviews. This is the first time a Davalos lead Bobcat basketball team will go into the post season, and when asked about how big this win was for his team, Coach Davalos couldn't be any more pleased.

"This was a big one," Davalos said. "I couldn't be more pleased with our teams effort in the second half to keep the lead and intensity going."

The Basketball team will travel to Huntsville to face Sam Houston State this Saturday, and with the Bobcats being one of the hottest teams in the SLC right now, it should be a good game to finish the regular season. Right now let’s just focus on the win that could be the most important of the season. The Bobcats definitely did eat ‘em up tonight, and they deserved every bite. Saturday's game can be heard on 89.9 KTSW starting with the pre-game at 1:45 p.m.
