The Bobcats beat the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions 11-1 in game 2 of a Sunday double-header. It was a great team effort by the Bobcats. 15 Texas State players had at least 1 hit or 1 run.
Leading the way for the Bobcat offense was senior short stop Alex Newton. Newton went 3 for 4 with 3 rbi's and 1 run. Bobcat starting pitcher, Chandler Hall, had a great game as well. Hall went 2 for 3 with 1 rbi and 1 run. She also earned the win by going 4 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits; she added 6 strike outs and 1 walk. The Lady Lion starting pitcher, Bailey Zievert, earned the loss. Zievert pitched 3.1 innings allowing 8 earned runs on 10 hits; she added 6 walks and 1 strikeout.
The game was close through 3 innings, however, the 4th inning would spell defeat for the Lady Lions. The Bobcats brought 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 4th, scoring 9 runs. The lead was 11-1 going into the top of the 5th inning. Bobcat pitcher, Elizabeth Dennis, came in to close out the game. The Lady Lions didn't get a run on the board in the 5th inning, so the game was called due to the 10-run-rule. It was Texas State's 3rd straight 10-run-rule win, all against the Lady Lions.
The win brings Texas State to 18-9 overall and 10-2 in the Southland Conference. The loss drops Southeastern Louisiana to 8-15 overall and 0-9 in Southland Conference play.
