Texas State defeated the UT Pan American Broncos on Saturday 5-2 in another great performance. The day started off with the Bobcats sweeping all three matches in doubles play. They were lead once again by the team of Nyssa Peele and Ashley Ellis.
In singles the Cats were in the lead once again by their number one Ashley Ellis who made quick work of her opponent as she won 6-1 and 6-2 in two sets. Laney Chafitz another senior leader had a tough day as she was defeated twice in a tiebreak. During the match there was some controversy as Chafitz was called for interference forcing her to give up a crucial point.
The match that made the day really exciting was Junior Mackenzie Farmer’s single match that went to three sets. Farmer rallied back after losing her first set 7-5 to win the second set forcing a third set to be played. In the third she rallied back from being down 4 points to win the match in deuce.
Junior Kiki Kruse also had a great a match as she battled through injury to win her match 6-2 and 6-1.
Overall the Bobcat’s had a great performance and will have their skills truly tested as they host North Texas on Sunday.
